On Monday 28 August, let’s discover the nature and history of the Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve together, a protected area of fundamental importance for aquatic birds and a true treasure trove of biodiversity.
The ornithologist Paolo Utmar, a passionate connoisseur of the area for more than fifty years, will take us on a fascinating journey through the last century of history of this area, between nature and traditional human activities. The Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve, officially established in 1996, was born and was exploited until 1995 as a “fishing valley”, one of the largest in the Grado lagoon.
The meeting point is at 16:30 at the Visitor Center of the Nature Reserve located in via Grado 1 in Fossalon. After an initial introduction and observation of the area, we will move for approximately 5 km with our own vehicle to visit the Casa Spina area, accessible only with a guide, where it will be possible to observe some structures used in the past for fish farming and the area of adjacent beach.
Participation in the event is free and will last 3 hours including the necessary travel between the two Visitor Centers of the Reserve. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes, to bring mosquito repellents and binoculars, which will be useful for observing the bird species present.

The reservation is effective upon receipt of confirmation from the staff of the Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve. Participation to the event is free.
