The Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve is a protected natural area located in the municipality of Grado, in the province of Gorizia in NE Italy. It is located close to village of Fossalon di Grado and covers 341 hectares, of which 67 ha are sea. Established in 1996, it is part of the Regional nature reserve network of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

From Trieste
Proceed along the A4 / E70 motorway towards Udine and take the exit labelled ‘Monfalcone est’. Continue towards Monfalcone and continue on the SS14 following the signs for Grado until you reach an intersection. Turn left onto the SP19 continuing to follow the signs for Grado. Continue on the SP19 and, after passing the bridge over the Isonzo and the town of Terranova, turn left to Fossalon. At the Fossalon intersection, turn right and continue for 1.5km.
From Trieste by bus
From the bus station, take the G21 line (Trieste-Monfalcone-Staranzano-Fossalon-Grado) and get off at the FOSSALON Via Grado (Madonnina) stop. Then continue on foot for about 150m towards the Reserve. (WEEKDAYS ONLY).
Or
From the bus station, take the G51 line (Trieste-Monfalcone-Airport-Udine) and get off at the Monfalcone stop via San Polo (hospital). Wait at the stop on the other side of the road for the connection with the G01 bus (Gorizia-Airport-Monfalcone-Grado) and get off at the FOSSALON Via Grado (Madonnina) stop. Then continue on foot for about 150m towards the Reserve Visitor Centre.
From Grado
Take the SP19 towards Trieste. After the bridge over the Primero canal, turn right to Fossalon and continue for about 1.5km.
From Grado / Grado campsites by bus
Take the G01 line (Grado-Monfalcone-Aeroporto-Gorizia) and get off at the FOSSALON Via Grado (Madonnina) stop. Then continue on foot for about 150m towards the Reserve.
Gorizia / Udine / Venice
Take the A4 / E70 motorway towards Trieste. Take the Monfalcone Ovest / Redipuglia exit and follow the signs for Grado until you take the SP19. Continue on the SP19 towards Grado and, after passing the bridge over the Isonzo and the town of Terranova, turn left to Fossalon. At the Fossalon intersection, turn right and continue for 1.5 km.
From Gorizia by bus
Take the G01 line (Gorizia-Aeroporto-Monfalcone-Grado) and get off at the FOSSALON Via Grado (Madonnina) stop. Then continue on foot for about 150m towards the Reserve.
