Geese and ducks, a journey through the feeding evolution of the Anseriformes

19 January @ 08:00 - 17:00

The Anseriformes, a group of 180 species that includes swans, geese and ducks, are among the most primitive birds, dating back to the Mesozoic, the age of the dinosaurs. Most of them (170 species) belong to the family Anatidae.
These extraordinary birds have evolved to adapt to a wide variety of diets, from pure vegetarian to specialised fish-eating.
During the event on Sunday 26 January at 15:30, together with ornithological naturalist Paul Tout, we will explore the eating habits of geese and ducks, evolutionary adaptations related to diet, and the relationship between diet and habitat.
